Chula Vista appears to be the name of the neighborhood west of 95, north of Spangler Blvd and the New River Canal, east of 31st Ave and south of Davie Blvd. It seems to be a very green area and canals run through a part of it.
Does anyone know this neighborhood? It is decent and safe? Is it surrounded by any dangerous neighborhoods, say west of 31Av or north of Davie Blvd.

Hi,
Did you ever find out about Chula Vista, I am very interested in a house on canal there. Is it safe and if so are there any unsafe areas near it. Thanks for your prompt response. I have been going to fort lauderdale for 15 years so I may be able to answer some other questions you have about fort lauderdale in general. Thanks
Chula Vista itself is mostly an iffy working class neighborhood. It is predominantly made of lower income "Florida Crackers" and a growing illegal immigrant population. As far as crime, I think some of the neighborhoods west of 31st might acutally be better (not great), certainly not any worse, and honestly I could even say the same for areas north of Davie Blvd after finding out that Melrose Park isn't that bad thanks to Wild Style inspiring me to check out the area. That whole SW Ft. Lauderdale area seems ripe for burglaries, judging by the burglar bars on many homes up Riverland Rd. The more upscale neighborhoods with canal access are generally in Lauderdale Isles and near the river in general. Basically, the deeper into the SW corner and along Riverland Rd, the better. Those areas acutally have a really cool old Florida vibe to them with some beautiful older and even historic homes that kind of remind me of Pinecrest in Miami-Dade. Unfortunately, I'm not too sure I would even recommend that area just because of how close it is to some shady spots, and it's a shame too because that area has a great rustic feel to it that is rare in Broward County.

where are they talking about? Is this area the area near New River middle?
Sort of, but Chula Vista is more towards where Davie Blvd and Riverland Rd intersect.
i meant new river elementary. I think I know where you are talking about. I just "discovered" that area a few weeks ago. Interesting look place. The homes on the new river go from really nice to looking really run down and shabby.
