Please re-read the first post. The OP very clearly asked about Weston and Plantation, and I mentioned homes in both.

Vr2, you make a better point, but could you at least try to be nicer about it?

Thank you for all of the insight everyone. We did like San Michelle but there is nothing available yet for the dates we are looking to possibly move.

I did see a few strange things mentioned about Coral Springs though. Would I be safe to assume Weston is a better bet? Not sure if anyone here has been to NJ but I would wherever we move to have sort of be like home...

So I guess what I am now asking is: for a young family moving from NJ (and used to having tons of stores everywhere) would Weston or Coral Springs be better?

Thank you all .

Weston is just easier to figure out for someone who is new to Broward. It all looks really nice and is entirely safe, the schools are great (it's impossible to pick the wrong neighborhood), and everything you need is close by. Major shopping is 5-10 minutes away. And, a major north-south, and east-west expressways borders you. There's no way to make a mistake. (And, this is written by someone who lives in Plantation and so is completely unbiased!)

Many posters here (including myself) live in Weston. IMHO, if a) you can afford, b) your commute is not bad and c) you can get used to hearing Spanish, Weston is the place to live for a young family in Broward.

However, there are not many stores in Weston. There are no bookstores/big box stores in Weston. In addition, I think the restaurants in Weston are sub par or overpriced.

You sent a link for a single family rental in SUNRISE for $1300. It would be very difficult to find a SINGLE FAMILY rental in WESTON for $1300 as you propose. You can find rentals for $1300 but a 3BR single family home is much more difficult to find.

At any rate, I would strongly suggest that the OP rent in a complex and not rent a single family home from an individual as I know quite a few people who were totally screwed by individual landlords here in Broward (and in Palm Beach).

I think he meant this property: Weston, FL, 33326 - MLS #D1389729 - Rentals real estate - REALTOR.com®

And, I agree. There hasn't been a more risky time to rent from a private owner and generally speaking, it was wrought with potential pitfalls before.

It's important for us to be close to some type of store that sells diapers, etc. Are there any Toys R Us or Babies R Us in the Weston area?
