We moved here from the DE/PA border 11 years ago. I'm on the Estero / South Ft Myers border. Will be glad to help. But, please if your not sure, RENT first. get to know the area and find where ya wanna be. Estero is one of the best places I M O...... community fee's will kill you down here. there's HOA fee's and Master association fee's in most neighborhoods. Clarify those with all real estate agents.

Bella Lago and Chinese drywall, be careful! looking at homes, ask if they had Chinese drywall. If so what was done to fix it? The outgassing from the drywall effects just about all metal products that were used in home construction, wiring, AC units, duct work, cabinet knobs, tubs etc...... be very careful. The units that had them should have been totally stripped down to the studs and started new from the wiring and duct work up.

I am hoping this forum can help me out; I am looking to purchase a 2-3 bedroom carriage house with a 2 car garage in a gated community in the Estaro, Bonita or South Ft Myers area within a 10 minute drive to the beach. What developments would you recommend? This would be a second home (aka snow bird). Not a big golfer, just looking for a place that is safe, reasonable fees, well managed, no HOA nazi's. I am looking to spend in the $200-250,000 range....any developments you would recommend?
