I said the same thing when I was down a couple weeks ago. Supposedly ocean levels are rising but it must be a winter thing.

When very cold northern storms come into the cape area in the winter we get very low water levels. This year and last year have been much colder than normal. Last year it was Jan. and Feb. mostly. This year it started in Dec.and made a bigger impact to people because it was so early this year.Hopefully this isn't a new pattern that is going to keep repeating it self every year. I am glad I have a boston whaler that only draws 8 inches of water because the canal around from me only has 2 to 3 feet of water in the center of the canal and 1 foot at the sea wall.

Maybe it has some thing to do with that Ceitus Barrier. Just guessing but the way it sounds Cape Coral is draining in to the gulf.

no, their properties are in the SE which is directly impacted by the callosahatchee river which could be from not discharging water from lake okachobee due to low water levels there. The depth of the canal that my property is on was still around 28 feet deep at it's deeper parts. I noticed the level being low when I was at jn ding darling reserve.

Ding Darling on Sanibel is even farther away from the Caloosahatchie than the sw portion of the cape where you are.
