We're coming down for a week. Time is short, and I need some summer type clothes. Looking for sundresses and casual wear - shorts & shirts and stuff. Also swimwear. Are there any non-chain shops or chain stores that cater more to age appropriate clothes for a 58 year old Size 8 woman? Up here all they seem to have is sleeveless shirts and shorts that barely cover your butt. As much as it pains me to write this....those days are gone for me.

Fort Myers is home to Chico's FAS. Their clothes are made for you. You may even have one nearby where you live. If not, hit one up when you get to town.

There's a cute store named Cotton Daze on Reflections Parkway that has nice inexpensive stuff.

You may also want to check out the upscale consignment store called Oo La La on Summerlin:

Designer Consignment – Buy and sell authentic used designer Bottega Veneta Chanel Gucci David Yurman Louis Vuitton - Ooh La La Consignment Their website only shows the really high end stuff, but there are great values there as well.

Finally, the Mirage Boutique on MacGregor, past the Barnes and Noble and Target complex. You can stop for lunch at Skip One seafood!

All nice indie shops.....

Luvtobewarm-me too! On both the warmth and the difficulty (up here) in finding clothes that don't look like I want to be sporting a navel piercing. Maybe you are familiar with Bealls, but if you aren't, give it a try. They definitely are tuned into our demographic. I'm buying ALL my warm weather clothes at Bealls with a few extras to bring back for summer in the north. I bought clothes in March and April at Bealls as gifts for friends from their fifties to seventies, and everyone loves them and wears them. And they are very reasonable in price. I shopped Dillards, but prefer Bealls .In any case, have fun.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I will give them a try. I have heard of Dillards, but not Bealls. I see they have two stores in Cape Coral, one on Pine Island and an outlet on Del Prado. Is one of them better? I'm trying to save time as I don't want to waste my week shopping!
Do these stores also have swimsuits? If I wore a size 4 bikini, I could find a lot of them up here! I'd particularly like a shop with mix and match tops/bottoms.
