Nice area. just watch the condo fees. Some are getting very high. Insurance mostly. Just remember with a house if it is paid for you always have the option to self insure where you don't with a condo. Good luck

Thanks that is a concern, we like the area not to far from beaches and shopping ft myers beach is to expensive and not to sure about cape coral too many empty store fronts looking a little run down and the canals drying up in winter months. We would like both canals and beaches but it seems a tough find for under 250k.

I live in the yacht club area in Cape Coral. I agree with you about the stores if you were looking at cape coral in the 2008 to 2011 time frame. But not know. The down town area has changed a lot in just 2 years. All for the better. The canals don't dry up in this area or the sw section. All the water in this area gets very low in winter time some more than others. I bought in 2010 in the off season and it looked like a ghost town. Thankfully that has changed. Good luck.

I agree with fiege. There is a revitalization going on in CC. Lots of new construction, new restaurants, fewer empty stores. Even if you want to be on a canal far from the river, you can always get out with a pontoon or flat bottom boat.

Pine Island is beautiful but you will be hard pressed there to find anything under 250K unless it's a mobile home

My one Son lives in Bonita and loves it. Like any place else, there are really nice sections and not so desirable sections. He lives off of Coconut Point Drive and it's pretty pricey there, but I am sure there are other nice places that aren't as expensive. The only downside is that for him to go anywhere takes time because of the distance.

I really don't know specifically, but if you are thinking of moving there you might call the Sheriffs Dept that handles Bonita and tell they you are thinking of living there, and ask them where most of their calls come from.

Bonita has some areas that have a high Hispanic population (I have heard it referred to as Burrito Springs) and while that doesn't necessarily equate to a bad neighborhood, it might be something to consider when making your decision.
