My wife and I are looking to purchase a vacation/future retirement home (8 more years). Her requirement is white soft sandy beaches to walk on. Mine is easy and fast access to the gulf for our boat. We have a budget of 300-350K. Am i looking in the right place? We have been searching from as far North as Bradenton to Cape Coral and Ft Myers area. Any information willl be greatly appreciated.

Under 350K does not equal fast and easy gulf access. That price range will probably get you within 45 minutes or so to open water for a canal home.Still not bad for the money and you'll be 15 to 20 minutes to your sandy beaches by car.
Maybe do better with a condo that's closer.

you could find a nice house in that price range (off water) store your boat at a marina (such as burnt store marina) you'd be at a sandy beach such as Boca Grande in about 20 mins

In Florida, water drives prices up. If you want to get to the beach quickly, are you talking about driving or by boat?
White sandy beaches come in different shades. The most white would be Siesta Key beach, so you would want to look in that area.
Ft Myers beach or Lovers Key State Beach are great beaches, but you will not get a place in the $300,000 range where you can walk to the beach. You will drive and depending on time of day and year could take an hour to get over the bridge.
Condos would get you closer than a house.
Many factors to consider in your search.

Thank-you for the replies. I think we are going to look at the Sandoval community and Taylor Morrison homes in Cape Coral as well as some area further North around Venice Beach and Englewood Beach. We don't want to rush into anything or end up somewhere we are not happy. Hopefully in December we can narrow it down some more.

Of course, things could change in 8 more years.
