You may want to call a few Realtor's in the area as they have rentals but don't usually put on realtor.com as some are rented before they are added.

Default Moving expenses

I have moved both to and from Florida....Cape Coral to be exact and the price the moving company quoted you seems about average for the move you will be making.
In my opinion, unless you have a lot of things you just do not want to part with, you might be a lot better off to just rent your own moving truck.
One of the BEST things about moving to Florida is that there are an abundance of thrift stores where you can buy some beautiful almost new home furnishings for a song. A big part of this is because retirees who are pretty well off tend to move here and then when they pass away or decide to move back home closer to their families a good bit of the time the furnishings they had will just be donated. So if you are not opposed to furnishings that are "gently worn" you can save big time. Also there tend to be a lot of estate sales, yard sales, etc. where you can find some beautiful pieces.
Just an idea for you but this can be a big money saver.

ok? thanks for that insight eagle...

What kind of sales, if I may inquire? Estero is nice, but traffic up 75 can be difficult in rush hour. Cape coral to fort myers traffic can be bad in rush hour also. The money you save at the toll booth by going pine island road or over a ft myers bridge into fort myers will be negated by time and fuel depending on where in the cape you look.

No bridges from Lehigh or Alva, and there are some pretty nice areas too.
