In most communities across the US, whenever sewer and water are brought in, it is up to the homeowner to pay for linking the lines to the house. Not unusual at all.

If this doesn't happen in the upper reaches of Cape Coral soon, those canals will eventually be nothing but stinking cesspools - waste has to go somewhere. It was fine as a beginning solution when there were hardly any new homes and the area was still quite rural. Now that the areas are becoming more and more populated, it's not really a choice.

In short they want more money.
And to get it they are going to screw the property owners. JUST like living along the Amazon ROTFLMAO.

Cape considers resuming utilities project - ABC-7.com WZVN News for Fort Myers, Cape Coral & Naples, Florida
"Staff says people there would be assessed at a rate of about $16,000 per lot to have utilities put in."
Every property owner in CC that has water and sewer had to pay for it. If the home is a resale I'm sure the cost is baked into the price.

Looks like it may be even cheaper than that...

To me it seems dumb to do all the excavation for water and not put in sewer at the same time. I wonder if there is any plan to put in a dual water system in the North

You're name is so funny! It will be difficult to make someone look stupid with a a name like that.
The city wells are 200 feet deep and into a different aquifer. The private wells are less that 200 feet deep and into an aquifer that has been over utilized.
