Anyone have experience with having hiatal hernias repaired?
Recommendations for very good gastroenterologists in DFW area?

Someone I taught with has had long-term problem with hiatal hernia and Barrett's syndrome--which is precancerous lining of the esophogus.
Has GERD--which is chronic gastric reflux--and now her insurance does not cover Nexium which is only med that gives some relief.

The dr she sees now has always said that surgery to repair the hiatal hernia might not be that successful because hernias can reappear...
but I think she should get second opinion--
if having the hernia repaired could reduce the GERD by even 50% she would be so much better off...

I had a procedure (endoscopy) done with Dr. Narayanan (spelling?) a couple years back. She was good to me and did a good job. Nothing special though. She was in the Blue cross system and near where I lived (in that big complex on oakmont).
