Trees are 10 -11 yrs old planted when house was built

I just bought a house with Oak trees and was told by an arborist to wait until July after "oak wilt" has ended. Apparently trimming oaks now leaves them open to an infection of sorts.

Appreciate the post but my husband went ahead last week and trimmed some branches--
He couldn't reach very high into the tree eventhough he had a "saw-pole" type trimmer
Will just have to see if it was bad move...

Gosh I'm sorry I just saw this. Going forward trim them in the fall. Hopefully they will be ok- my husband (not an arborist but a lumber guy who knows a lot about trees/trimming) isn't a big believer in the stuff they paint to supposedly block the vulnerable surface left when you take a branch off but I don't think it hurts. We had some involuntary trimming done on our Huge Live Oak by the utility guys maybe 2 years ago and all seems to be ok.
