Hi, so Im a new college grad and moving from IL to Fort Worth. My job is in the western part of FW, by White Settlement and Westworth.

Im looking for a good area to find a single-room apartment. My budget is around 600 so I dont want to spend too much more than that. Id like to live in a nice, lively area in the mid-cities since Im really interested in the Dallas area too. Ideally, im looking for a place with a more populated suburb, with a younger crowd and interesting places to hang out and meet people (i.e. malls, gyms, restaurants, etc). Also, I am asian, Id like to live in a more diverse place. It doesnt have to be Koreatown or the like, just as a place that has a diverse atmosphere.

One of he more important things is the commute/traffic. Traveling to the west side of FW is going to rule out places like Plano, richardson, etc since I cant even imagine how long itd take to get to work.

Ive been interested in Arlington TX since it seems to fit all of my criteria, but from what I hear, the traffic can get bad considering its in the middle of DFW. How long would it take me to get from Arlington to West Ft. Worth (by white settlement, westworth). Is Arlington still a good choice?

Also, any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

What type of job is it?

Just so you know, Fort Worth doesn't have as many Asians as Richardson, Plano, etc.

I know people who live in Arlington and work on the west side of FW. Thankfully, they're against the sun and traffic during normal rush hour, so that is a viable option. It's probably a 30-35 min. commute. Given your desire to be in the mid-cities area, I recommend that area. If you're willing to live in a less diverse community, then look at Aledo, White Settlement, Lake Worth, and Saginaw - all of which will put you at a ~15 min. commute to west FW.

I am Asian myself. I would highly recommend Arlington. There is no authentic Chinese or Korean food in Fort Worth. Haltom City has Viet Namese and Thai but that's about it. Arlington is not far from either Dallas or FW in case you are looking for opportunities on the other side of the metroplex. Strongly recommend North ARlington, on Brown and Collins. and green oaks area, there is also a whole foods market there, plus three major Asian plaza.

Why not live in west Fort Worth? I love this area because it's quiet and very safe. There are several new apartment complexes in west Fort Worth near loop 820. And you'll be close to major highways, downtown FW, and the Hulen area.

There's a nice, relatively new, large apartment complex that's right around the corner from where your work will be called Constellation Ranch (zip code 76108). It might be a little bit out of your price range, but it looks real nice and it's extremely convient to IH 30 and 820.

I've lived at that apt. complex. It is nice, but a bit pricier compared to other apt. It's relatively brand new - I believe it opened in late 2006.
