Pie Peddler--Glen Rose (appointed, to buy, school)

Ok, we just came back from a very nice trip in Glen Rose, but we were somewhat disappointed with Pie Peddler.

We read so much about it, how great the pies are, how its run by two retired school teachers, best pie in the state, etc, well, if you're in the area and want a piece of pie go there, but don't make it a destination.

We both got a slice of apple pie, for $4 per slice we expected a larger piece. Such a small piece, and they really skimp on the filling. Really, they could have used some more apples! And it was about half-full, a lot of space between the filling and crust. Speaking of crust, well, it was good, but not that great. We were planning to buy a couple of whole pies to take home, but at $20 per pie we decided not to, especially considering the small size and skimpy fillings. Honestly, a Mrs. Smith pie for about $5 is better!

I read so much about how great this place is and was quite disappointed in our experience. In my opinion, the pies are overrated and over priced. Its a tourist gimic, that's all. Just my opinion!
