I'm one of those that i'd call a penny tosser, i hate pennies and it seems every time i buy something i get 4 dollar bills and 4 pennies in change, at the end of a few days i've got pockets full of change and a wad of dollar bills that looks impressive until you count it and its only $20.
I lighten the load of change by tossing the pennies,if thats helping some one out financially by picking these damn worthless pennies you can also thank me for the exercise i'm subjecting you to by your having to bend down to pick up these useless pieces of metal.
A poll topic of what is the lowest denomination of coinage would you think worthy of picking up would put me in the $0.25 category.
I do not pick up pennies or any coins from the ground. Heck, I even passed on a $5 bill a few weeks ago. But it really has nothing to do with whether I think it's worth it or not.

I just toss them in a jar.. (pretty much every coin up to but not including quarters.. Quarters I save to pay parking meters.)
Next time I want to buy something from Amazon, I cash in that jar at a Coinstar machine and use the gift certificate to credit my purchase.
Don't you hate it when you buy something, the total comes out to say $4.07 (typical for a $3.99 item after sales tax in CA).. you hand the cashier a $5 bill and a dime.. the cashier gives back the dime and says "you overpaid.".. ?

I used to collect pennies back in the days before the coinstar machines, cashing them in would involve hours of counting out 50 at a time and rolling them in special paper,then lugging about 50lbs of the darn things to the bank,its probably where i acquired my low regard for the useless denomination,so now its just a habit,see a penny? toss it..

I wouldn't use a coinstar, isn't their take 10%? and since when do you have to roll your coins to turn them in? I carry in a coffee can and they dump the whole thing into a machine and 10 min later I have my cash. Most banks let you do this as long as you have an account with them. I have been turned away from a bank in Louisiana because I didn't have an account, I offered to give them 10 bucks and they still said no.
I was really poor awhile ago and turned all my change in, which included a lot of pennies. I had over 50 dollars to buy myself food. So yes, I save everything.

Nope. You may be racist, but that doesn't mean everyone is. I'm a slight germaphobe and suffer from slight OCD. I don't feel comfortable picking stuff up off the ground.
Oh yeah!
I even check them to make sure if they are copper, it goes to my copper penny collection.
