I love this guy's blog. He outlines the steps he took to become financially independent in 5 years. His advice can be done by most people, but it is not easy. It requires a lot of discipline.
He has a lot of practical steps you can take even if you don't want to be at his level of frugality:

So basically his plan is to live like a hermit on only 25% of your take home pay and save/invest the rest?
Exactly. Most people have financial commitments that would make this virtually impossible. Hey kids, say goodbye to your friends we're moving to a single-wide on Eastern Kentucky, where the climate is perfect for the onions and potatoes we'll grow for dinner.
I'm confused, if he is writing and maintaining his own website how exactly is it retired?
