I love this guy's blog. He outlines the steps he took to become financially independent in 5 years. His advice can be done by most people, but it is not easy. It requires a lot of discipline.

He has a lot of practical steps you can take even if you don't want to be at his level of frugality:

He is also financially independent because others are buying his book.

So basically his plan is to live like a hermit on only 25% of your take home pay and save/invest the rest?

I'm sorry, but there are millions and millions of people who could not possibly be financially independent in five years, even if the author of this blog personally took them by the hand.

For those who CAN be, there is one five-word sentence that sums up everything you need to know in order to accomplish it. Spend Less Than You Earn.

Exactly. Most people have financial commitments that would make this virtually impossible. Hey kids, say goodbye to your friends we're moving to a single-wide on Eastern Kentucky, where the climate is perfect for the onions and potatoes we'll grow for dinner.
