I just about had enough of paying for monthly services of any kind. Be it HULU, Netflix, etc....I don't want any of it. I'll get a HD antenna and be just fine. Besides, I don't watch much TV......I'm too busy trying to build wealth.
The lady had me on the phone for 12 minutes trying to "retain" me. I told her---"SHUT IT OFF. I DON'T WANT IT".
You are lucky. After the merger, a Comcast rep would have made that ten times more painful.
I killed my cable years ago with comcast(scammers) with no problem, since I ditched my home number, got a prepaid cell, and I moved with no forwarding address. If you fall off the grid and take extraordinary steps to keep that status, then comcast will never bother you again.

Make sure the antenna you buy is both UHF and VHF. That is all that matters. Be wary of the marketing gimmicks that try to convince people you need a special antenna to get HD (usually a weird shaped, overpriced one that ends up being a piece of crap). Airwaves are in VHF and UHF just as they've always been.
A $10 Walmart antenna will suffice. That's what I have and I get something like 25 channels (I haven't counted). More than I need. My $10 antenna is RCA.
We have been cable free for 5 years. We do watch DVDs sometimes like the Waltons, Bewitched, etc. Now, if I could eliminate the phone completely............
