I don’t believe it is. As far as I know, he could even park the truck on the street and live in it. So long as he moves it every three days. There are a lot of homeless people living in all kinds of vehicles on the streets around Mountain View (many of them probably have jobs but can’t afford a place to live). Some of the neighboring cities have passed laws against it, but I don’t believe Mountain View has.

I think it is. At least he is not going to be in debt with student loans for the rest of his life.

I would love to hear his logic on not buying a RV?

10k for a 2007 box truck with 150k sounds nuts as does 120 a month to insure it.

There is no shortage of RVs for sale in that price range.

I think those results are highly suspect. Only 31 results and most of those vehicles are not even in California. One of those is just a trailer for $11,000. He would still have to get a truck on top of that to move it. I think it would be very difficult to buy a decent RV in California for less then 10K. By decent I mean one that will pass CA smog, and is not totally deteriorated.

Try and find a specific RV on that list that would work for him. Keep in mind that a 1985 Winnebago from Portland OR is not going to pass smog in California. So eliminate the out of state ones before you start.

I think RVs aren't allowed in any city... Best to use a minivan as a "Stealth RV" - that's something I do when I go on road trips.

Edit: I saw the web page and I think his setup is ok!
