I'm glad to hear that you and your wife found a balance that cut some wasted expenses without giving up on things that were more important to you. You are absolutely right that being debt free gives you a lot more choices. It isn't about sacrificing everything, its about not wasting money on things that don't increase your happiness. Always happy to hear about someone else who has figured that out.

Once you discover that living within you means is mostly about freedom, the word Budget loses its negative connotation.

Next step is to continue to build savings at a slow enough rate so that you can still enjoy doing the things you choose to do without slipping into debt.
