I am a guy, and I'll say single women can live more cheaply.

Men are going to need a lot more food. A lot of extra protein and meat. More food means more money, and meat tends to be more expensive. Some states still tax groceries!

Car insurance for men is higher, too.

Men's clothes are also more expensive.

Not only do women eat less and thus save more, their car insurance and clothes are cheaper. Women don't have to wear makeup, jewelry, or get any fancy hairdo. If they buy their clothes from Walmart and aren't into fashion then they can live very cheaply.

I say single men vs single women, because of course Weddings will cost half a years salary and women's families are responsible for the costs.

While you have a few valid points, here are some for the other side. Women tend to not make as much money as men; therefore, the cost expenditure ratio to income is higher. Additionally, even if women are low maintenance by not wearing makeup, there are additional feminine related products that men don’t have to purchase...feminine products, bras, purses, etc...

Statistically women tend to take better care of themselves when it comes to preventative medicine so more doctor visits, healthier food purchases (way more expensive) and more cost for equipment/items for activities that enable a healthier lifestyle to attain this.

Personally, if women buy clothes from Walmart, men can do the same and the difference is negligible. Plus, women in general tend to have more clothes than men. So there’s an added expense. Most men are happy with a few items of each; whereas, women tend to have that plus accessories to accompany outfits.

Nowadays, women are waiting longer to get married and this typically means they (and their new spouse) are footing the cost, or the majority of the cost, for weddings. Weddings (hopefully) will only be once and this cost if not incurred by the parents will be on the cost of the couple.

Now that said, this is still very subjective. I know men that won’t spend a dime on themselves and same with women. I also know the other extreme. However, generally speaking, IMO, women spend more in comparison to their income.

The single largest budget category is housing -- male or female.
All the rest pales in comparison so NO! there's no basis to believe genetics has any bearing.

Choices otoh will indeed have bearing.
The #1 choice being the size/style/finish of wherever they choose to live...
and based on that -- how much of their income is required to manage it all.
And then how much remains for everything else.

Depends on the age and resourcefulness of individual.

I would think men could live a lot cheaper (until they need healthcare).

I have seen both be very successful at frugal living.

Women typically more resourceful for a higher quality of life and better health .
Men grunt it out, but it's not too "pretty".

I seem to find more men living in their cars, or an old bus. Women seem to prefer a nest / home.

This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

But with that being said, I disagree that men's clothing is more expensive.

Yes, but the assumption of this thread is that both the single man and the single woman are living as cheaply as possible.

Let's also assume they work at the same company doing the same job.
