I found a Vitex tree at a public park. It is the perfect plant for the south side of my house, so yesterday I happened to run my hand over the spent flower, and voila! I just happen to have a bunch of seeds now.
My question is: do I just sow them in some sterile soil now, or do I need to chill them or do anything to them first in order to get them to grow?
Just plant them in your soil and lightly water them every day for about a week to make sure they don't dry out.
Then, put some crushed leaves over them and leave them alone.
When it is the right time in spring, they will come up.
By the way, they grow pretty fast, but you will have to wait a few years for
flowers.
I love mine, it is the blue kind and the bumble bees actually sleep in it.
Good Luck!
Follow Butterfly4u instructions. Thats how I started mine and they are beautiful in the summer. I have 4 that were purple seed and one of them had pink blooms this year. It was purple the last 3 years.
