Specially the Va Mountains, any kind that do really well and not so well? I am looking to grow trees, bushes and flowers and am in the plotting process, I have a large yard, and a big front porch that is begging for vines, what kind grow well but not too much? Not Ivy but something else that will not invade my neighbors lawns! Thanks!

Your local extension office will have answers for you. A lot will depend on where exactly, and how high, in the mountains you are. Something in the Shenandoah Valley might not do as well in Wise.

I miss the Virginia Mountains....

Pass the Blue Ridge Mountains
You'll find you past the best
and when your dreams have ended
where mountains are concerned
me and sweet Virginia will wait for your return

Hey Stonecold, where exactly in the VA mountains are you? I'm in Franklin County, VA, and I'm mildly obsessive about landscaping and gardening. But since there are a few zones in the VA mountains, it would help to know what county you're in.

Cheers,

Sean
