Roundup makes at least 2 different types of herbicide. If the regular Roundup doesn't kill the weed get the Roundup made for Blackberries. It's stronger and contains additional chemicals. That's the only thing that will kill knapweed.

Be super careful that you don't get any on plants you want to keep. Don't spray when there is any wind at all.

Adding: you do know that it takes a couple of weeks for the plant to die, right?

I think, generally, all weed killers work with salts that clog the weed root system to discourage growth but not kill a weed, and then the salts break down in about a week so you haven't poisoned the ground.

By planting grass seed after a week passes where you applied the weed killer, you crowd out the weed. So discourage the weed with weed "killer", then give it plant competition.

Based on your photos, I don't see grass or anything else but the weed. Black plastic and a heavy mulch is best there. I have seen professional landscapers do that right over an existing lawn to create beds of flowers without digging up the turf.

I am not in favor of herbicide poisons that can get into the water table.

You'll find that the weed is very resistant to any weed killer because of the way it grows underground. The tubers make it very resistant to most weed killing techniques. It's a pretty well noxious weed called Florida Betony.

Round-Up Ready to Use is the weakest mixture you can buy, it could take several applications on more mature weeds than young ones. I buy the concentrate and mix my own strengths to the type of weed being killed.
You are only killing the visible green blades of the nutsedge but not the roots and nut. It comes right back after spraying with roundup. Within days, new blades will begin to appear.

Nope, I get'em 100%. Haven't seen any in years since I soaked them nuts and all.
