Hi everyone! Husband and I bought a new home last year and this is the first time I am doing some gardening. He thinks I have a green thumb but it is too early to say, I have just been experimenting a lot.

To surprise him with my "garden abilities" I bought an elephant ear and planted in a pot which is in my bathroom right now. I want it to grow really big and just let him get impressed on how huge the plant is growing. I don't think he has ever seen a colocasia before!

Pretty sure elephant ears aren't going to grow well in your bathroom.

I agree with HB2HSV. Elephant ear likes wet soil and shade and warm temps. If you keep a light on or have it near a window, I'm sure it would grow in the bathroom. Just try it.

Yes, it is by a window
Now, since the plant is in a pot, when the roots fill out the space, will it start to die or it just won't grow as big?

You could plant it in a bigger pot, and take it outside for the summer.
