Ok, I've just watered the smaller one a couple of times during a dry spell and didn't water the larger one, and believe it or not, it seems to have made a difference. You know how you can just tell that a plant is growing....it looks a little bigger and fresher, even just since the day I took and posted that picture!
I'm going to give some Super Miracle Gro a try, as suggested by someone who repped my post. Thanks, wn, whoever you are!
If I make any significant progress, I'll report back.
I don't think it needs to catch up. It's probably just a dwarf hosta. Hostas come in every size imaginable. I wouldn't worry about it.
No, as I said in my original post, they were bought together (same tags), planted together, and grew at the same rate for several years....probably 4 or 5.
I know this sounds really crazy but trust me it works! Pee on them. Or pour pee around it. I don't know if it's the acid in our urine that fixes the ph levels that our plants need or what. But it works for me, every time. Plus it's economical.
Urine contains nitrogen. But, as my next-door neighbor's living room windows are right on the other side of these hostas, I guess I'll just stick with Miracle Gro....it would be more economical than a fine for public indecency (neighbor is also Police Chief). LOL
