Most veggies like heat (unless you are growing cole crops. If you are growing cole crops, plant earlier in the year).
If there is too much heat, invest in some good quality shade cloth. I've got a shade house that I use for hardening my seedlings, and all I have is a piece of shade cloth over the top and on the side with the most direct sun, and it works perfectly.
The black shade cloth is fine by me, but it is available in all sorts of colors, including, but not limited to, white, green, or purple. If you are clever about how you frame it, it can look very nice.
