One of my friends did that to a large unusable hill she had at the back of her property, although she didn't use wood, but just cut into the ground to create the levels. She and her husband worked for two years and did it all themselves - it is GORGEOUS.
Very nice, except for access. Makes my knees and back hurt just looking at it lol. I think I would make every other bed a pathway, so it would be easier to reach the other beds.
