So we recently moved into our new house and the previous owner didn't take care at the yard at all. I'm not really sure what kind of weeds I have or if I even have any grass hiding in all the weeds. I would like to eventually have Bermuda Grass. We live in Dallas Texas so mostly clay soil. I have attached a couple of pictures.. Any advise would be really welcomed!

Both those pictures are some kind of grass. Not familiar at all with Texas plants, but looks to me as if it is some kind of clumping pasture grass.

The second one looks similar to Nutsedge which is a weed in this neck of the woods but I am not sure if that is actually it.

Spray it all with Roundup, wait a few weeks and put down Floratam sod.

Dig it all up.

Get compost, rototill it in.

Seed or sod..........your choice....depending on budget.

Top picture looks like the usual old Texas variety of Bermuda. The other one will dry up eventually.

Call a landscape company, have them check your soil. Make it healthy. The good grass will overtake the weeds. Or you could put in all new sod. Depends on what you can afford.

But new sod might have weeds in it also. There are some new houses down the road from me (live in texas) had all new sod put in. Well, they also have all new weeds. Of course they probably didn't treat the soil before they set it down. It was "weedy" acreage before.

Hawete,
It looks like Bermuda grass to me, especially the second picture.
You can dig a little up and take it to a local nursery, they will tell you what it is.
If it is Bermuda, google a search Bermuda Bible, and follow the instructions. It will tell you
everything you need to know.
Right now, you have cool season weeds still left. They will die once the heat kicks in.
Mow low for warm season grass, 1 inch high, and water the grass 1 inch of water a week.
Measure it, seriously, if you don't have an inch of rain. You can buy a rain gauge anywhere.
You need nitrogen for your lawn now. It's waking up, so guy buy some lawn fertilizer with or without
weed control and apply to lawn at the rate it says on the bag. READ it.
You will have to fertilize once a month when the weather warms up, if it is Bermuda.

Keep it mowed, plug in some Bermuda grass plugs and keep it watered. If you keep the weeds short, the Bermuda will choke them out.

I have to agree with some of the previous posters. It looks like you already have Bermuda grass to me. It looks like it would benefit from a good fertilizer and some grooming.

Depending on what it is, digging/rototilling could just spread it. You need a definite ID before you do this.
