Update on my Arbs... It's one thing watching them grow but its another to compare and look back at pictures. WOW!

Not only excited that these were from cuttings but the growth rate is now pumping. Check out the difference from just last year. I only feed them light dose of Hollytone in Spring and Fall

Distant shot. Originals need another haircut off the top. I'm impressed the little ones are growing with that fence behind them which is the southeast side.

Guess what I was doing yesterday...

I did 18 cuttings this time. I have an area I want to plant more plus maybe give away or sell them

Just stick them in a pot with potting soil and protect from animals with a fence over it

Guess what I was doing today. I cut like 2-4 feet off the top of the Arbs again. Impressed how thick they got at the top.

I got the trimmer, the chainsaw, the pruners. Used them all.

Before/After. The line is how much I had cut off.

WOW

"CD" doesn't just mean City Data, it means Cambiums Diary. I love being able to look back at things.

I was doing this today and wondered when I did it last time. So I looked back at this thread

May 2018 is when I did it last time!

Looks great. I share a yew hedge with a neighbor that is about 15’ high and growing. It was there before I moved in, and also before our present neighbors. I trim my side, but my neighbor hasn’t the last two years. It’s starting to look lopsided.

It’s also getting a bit scary trying to trim it! I may need to get some scaffolding, lol.

15 feet? 10' is my limit. I really dont need it higher. With the extra sunlight coming through hopefully it fill in more down lower.

I had to ask permission to get into neighbors property to do that side.

I'm getting too old to keep topping trees off myself. Haha. These Hollys were over 14 feet.

The Ladder is 8 foot tall. So I chopped them down a couple feet. I don't want them taller than the neighbors roof. 1. because thats East and I need as much sun for the garden as possible. 2. Because I can't go too high to do this.

But I think this will be my last year doing it myself. Either will hire or just let them grow as tall as they want

beautiful privacy trees though!
