I bought this tree from HD yesterday, intending to plant it in a really big pot in the back yard. It's about 3 feet tall, all leafed out now and looks good but the pot from HD is small.

Is this a good plant to put in a pot or will it keep it from ever getting any peaches? Reading about this tree on line, it seems it should be planted in the ground and frankly, I am running out of space in my small yard for trees. It is a Melocotonera Red Baron. Anyone have suggestions for me ?

Find out from HD or from the label on the tree what kind of root stock it's on. If it's dwarf or semi-dwarf it should be okay in a big container. Otherwise you could still try keeping it in a container but will need to keep it carefully pruned back and well supplemented.
