I have a very big Christmas Cactus on my coffee table. It did it's usual bloom about Thanksgiving / Christmas like it has for the length of time I have had it, which is about 4 years, maybe longer.
However, while looking at it more closely the other day, I thought I was losing my mind, I thought I saw more buds. But how can that be, they only bloom around the holiday time.
I brought this up to one of my co-workers and she said hers is also blooming.
Well, today Saturday, 3pm, I just looked at it closely again and there are flowers ll starting to come out.
Is this normal, does this happen from time to time?
All the years of having this plant, as did my mother, it only bloomed once a year.
none the less, I love it and it looks so pretty.
Has anyone else had a Christmas Cactus bloom more than once a year?
Not unusual to bloom more than once. Christmas and Thanksgiving are just names given to the plants, not necessarily meaning they will bloom at those times. Blooming can give or take a few months apart depending on mother nature's whims.
There are three types of holiday cactuses. A true Christmas Cactus is rarely sold in stores and the ones you find in big box stores are labeled Christmas Cactus and most always a Thanksgiving Cactus. Thanksgiving Cacti often bloom more than once a year.

Mine bloomed a little before Christmas and now is in full bloom again.
