My son's class is learning abt plants and he got home 3 lima beans wrapped in a damp paper towel. 2 days later, it had a nice root and a green shoot forming, so I stuck all three in a little pot. A week later, much to my surprise, they are almost 7 inches tall, and are sprouting a second set of leaves.

Think it's time I planted them outside. No real yard, so I'm thinking maybe 12" pot should suffice for all three? Or at least each? Is it a bush or does it need some support to climb/cling to? I googled for info, but I am getting more confused, especially since most of the leaves there don't appear exactly like mine look. They are similar, but I also see there are types of lima's and I have no clue what mine is. I'll post a pic later today, in case that helps id the kind of lima bean it is.

My son is thrilled, and I'd love for this plant to survive as long as I am able to make it. Never done any real gardening. Just maintaining few houseplants. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Most Limas are bush plants meaning they dont need to climb. You'd proably need a 12inch pot for each if you want them to produce. They'll need as much sun as possible and once they flower will need to be outdoors for pollination (bees) if you want beans to grow.
