I went a little crazy sowing a bunch of seeds a few weeks ago when SoCal got a weeks worth of rain. Problem is, I'm not sure what all my sprouts should look like. I am 90% positive that the big guy in the middle is not a veggie.

Thanks!

Yes it's a weed! Mallow family, get rid of it before it flowers and seeds.

Ugh - I get those in my garden and lawn all the time - they are hard to pull from the root efficiently. Try to get as much of the roots out as you can because these pesky things come back with a vengeance.

It does look like a weed, although it could also be Lady's Mantle, which is a perennial herb. I have it in my perennial gardens. Was it entirely veggie seeds you sowed?

Looks like it might be dollar weed. If so, very difficult to get rid of once it takes hold in your yard.

Yes, the Big Guy in the middle is definitely a weed, and he will take over if you let him! (On the other hand, I'd be so happy to see SOMETHING growing in my garden right now that I'd probably let him hang around for awhile. I'm probably not going to even see a weed until mid-May.)

I had those in my old backyard, if I can recall correctly they do flower though, right? I am picturing orange/yellow flowers...
