I really like Legacy and I am satisfied with it. I really don't have the time and money to try all the genealogy programs available. If you find one you like, stick with it. If you find later down the road, your current program doesn't do as much as you want it to, at least you know there are others available.
My main computer is a Mac Pro, so I don't have a lot of choices in genealogy software. I went with MacFamilyTree and have been fairly satisfied. There is at least one "flaw" with it, however. There are a couple of instances in my family, where first cousins have married. The software seems to get "confused" when you try to connect those two people. So, it is necessary to enter each person into the data base twice (once on his side of the family, and once on her side of the family). I sent an e-mail to the company, and they said they were aware of the issue, and are working on it. Other than that, I like it.
The Master Genealogist is far and above the best program available. The one caveat I have come to accept is, if you're not that comfortable with computers, you may have difficulty using it. Just like any program, the more powerful it is, the higher the learning curve, and I've encountered several people in my years of teaching who just cannot grasp it.
I've just had a look at The Master Genealogist program at their website and it does look like something I would like to try in the near future. Thanks for the heads up!

This is one of the things that I love TMG's ability to do. It's very forward thinking, and recognizes that relationships come in all shapes and sizes. I am able to create not only "crossed" marriages like you mention, but have married same-sex couples, created a "relationship" for unmarried couples that doesn't have to be marked as a marriage.

Unfortunately, TMG isn't really an option for me, since there is no way I'm going to put Windows on my Mac (that's why I got a Mac in the first place...to get away from Windows ). But MacFamilyTree can create a relationship for unmarried couples. It's only the first cousin thing that seems to create some "confusion". Hopefully there will be a fix for that soon.
Yeah, if you're not willing to put the Windows program on your Mac ... you're pretty well sunk. They just don't tend to write many options in software for that system.
I have used the same version of Reunion genealogy software for OSX for several years without issue. I did not have to upgrade it when i moved from Snow to Snow Leopard. I don't expect to upgrade at the next release, either. I've used the same MS Office4Mac 2000 for several years, too. I don't need multiple choices nearly as much as i need software that well... just works.

And that's perfectly fine as long as you're satisfied with the features, or possible limitations of the features, of what's available to you.
PC vs Mac you can DM me. I happen to think TMG software is awesome, but it is not for n00bs.
