The last time they offered some type of free search weekend, their web site became so slow that I just stopped using it until the weekend was over. I hope they have done some system improvement since then.

Edit: Well, I see they solved the problem by not allowing members to sign in. The site is not recognizing my password or email, and the 800 help line is busy, busy. I may have to rethink this membership.

:::sad laugh::: 'fraid not

The system was totally down earlier (last I checked was 11am eastern). It is now reported up, but having issues, according to some users.

This is a good site to verify problems

Ancestry.com - Is Ancestry Down Right Now?

It saves having to call the Help Desk (who are probably looking forward to the end of the day. Had a HD job once and said "never again." I got tired of being a punching bag for irate customers)

I'm going to pull up my FTM and use the plain old internet. I think Ancestry is going to be quite busy this weekend.

Ancestry's chief technology officer explains the recent site problems:

By the way, FamilySearch's family tree has been completely down for two days now because of technological problems.
