It's been that price for quite a while, not sure why they're trying to make it sound like it's a new price.

It's the same type of test, both are autosomal DNA tests, the main difference will be in how the different companies analyze or present the data.

Another difference is that AncestryDNA is available to to U.S. residents only. 23andMe ships the test kits internationally.

I took the autosomal and mtDNA tests with each of these companies. This is what I got from each one:

NatGeo Geno 2.0:
mtDNA haplogroup to 6 digits
8 categories for ethnic origins
Neanderthal and Denisovan DNA

AncestryDNA:
15 categories for ethnic origins (the most accurate and complete)
many genealogical matches

23andMe:
mtDNA haplogroup to 6 digits
6 categories for ethnic origins, but with 33.1% non-specific & unassigned
Neanderthal DNA
many genealogical matches
medical information

FTDNA:
my full 8-digit mtDNA haplogroup
only 3 categories of ethnic origins

I am strongly considering the NatGeo test. TribalCat, can you share a bit more about your results? How do you think they stack up? You can even PM me.

Thanks!
