Eurogenes k13:

North_Atlantic 48.86
Baltic 17.36
West_Med 15.52
West_Asian 7.42
South_Asian 6.82
Oceanian 1.15
Red_Sea 0.86
Amerindian 0.83
Siberian 0.5
East_Asian 0.44
Sub-Saharan 0.24

91.5% Southwest English + 8.5% Kurumba
90.5% Southwest English + 9.5% Bangladeshi

These are my paternal grandfather's full brother's GEDmatch results. On Ancestry, he comes up as my 1st cousin. His main regions are Ireland, Scandinavia, Europe West and Great Britain with trace regions of Asia South and Melanesia as well.

Here are my 23andme Eurogenes k13 results for comparison:

North_Atlantic 52.62
Baltic 21.46
West_Med 14.44
West_Asian 4.12
South_Asian 2.61
East_Med 2.17
Amerindian 1.14
East_Asian 1.03
Oceanian 0.41

98.4% Southwest English + 1.6% Austroasiatic_Ho
98.6% Southwest English + 1.4% Bangladeshi

I get as high as 4% South Indian on some calculators. Also my 23andme results show me as 1.7% South Asian. Are these results typical of a part Roma person or more typical of a British descended person with a recent Indian ancestor? My great uncle has no Europe East or Middle East on Ancestry, which I expect would show up if he was part Roma.

So many diifferent communities of India are being shown here. Instead of Roma, this population group is representative of Indians who migrated to British colonies like Fiji, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana.

Interesting. It does seem that my uncle has more southern and eastern Indian ancestry, though he does get 22% Roma on one calculator. Also, I tend to show up with more tribal Austroasiatic and Dravidian Indian than anything. Some Northern Indian comes up as well. Also East Asian. My uncle got 10% Brahmin and Punjabi on mixed mode.

Earlier when I saw your post, the type of Indian communities shown were typically those which boarded ships for British colonies like Fiji, Trinidad, Guyana in 1800s. Instead of a broad paintbrush of North, South indian, Caste system is a better indicator of a person history from the sub-continent.
One of your ancestor was Fiji-Indian for sure.

hmm, fascinating. this is my (great) uncle's harappaworld 4 populations approximation:

1 orcadian + orcadian + singapore-indian-d + spaniard @ 3.655425
2 orcadian + orcadian + singapore-indian-d + spaniard @ 3.827754
3 british + orcadian + singapore-indian-d + spaniard @ 3.883509
4 basque + orcadian + singapore-indian-d + ukranian @ 3.991771
5 singapore-indian-d + spain-basc + utahn-white + utahn-white @ 4.014190
6 british + british + french + singapore-indian-d @ 4.021646
7 british + orcadian + singapore-indian-d + spaniard @ 4.052358
8 orcadian + singapore-indian-d + spaniard + utahn-white @ 4.075420
9 basque + british + singapore-indian-d + ukranian @ 4.087532
10 n-european + singapore-indian-d + spain-basc + utahn-white @ 4.113021
11 orcadian + singapore-indian-d + spaniard + utahn-white @ 4.128755
12 orcadian + singapore-indian-d + slovenian + spain-basc @ 4.145672
13 basque + orcadian + singapore-indian-d + slovenian @ 4.149157
14 british + french + orcadian + singapore-indian-d @ 4.163439
15 orcadian + singapore-indian-d + spain-basc + ukranian @ 4.171078

19 basque + hungarian + orcadian + singapore-indian-d @ 4.229628
20 n-european + orcadian + singapore-indian-d + spain-basc @ 4.233074

23andme says that I likely had an ancestor between 1790 and 1880 who was 100% South Asian. I'm fairly sure this comes from my paternal grandfather's side because I also share a DNA match with my great uncle who is part 'Asia South'.

Thanks for the input!

I see you are mostly European, therefore you are European or Caucasian
It doesn't matter if you are mixed with some Asian, in DNA majority rules.

The calculator is also picking up Iberian populations in addition to South Asians and small amounts of East Asian and a tiny bit of sub-Saharan African. These populations are consistent with a mixed Goan ancestry. The British Naval Fleet stationed in Goa in 1779 and the Brits preferred Goans above other Indians based on their culture therefore many worked in the service of the British Navy and when the navy withdrew some Goans followed.

I don't consider myself anything other than other than Caucasian and I'm proud of my European heritage. For the most part I know what my family's ethnicity and background is, so if I see British, Irish or German/western European DNA it's no surprise because that's what I was told I was, but I never heard anything about having any other ethnicity so naturally I want to find out who this ancestor was and where they came from. I guess because it was long ago, people forget about it, or they chose to forget.

I get a small 0.3% Iberian on 23andme. I figured it was just noise from my British and Irish ancestry.

23andme says it's from 1730 to 1820. I've seen a lot of British people with Iberian.
