Ok, as I get down to the wire with my relocation, the realization is beginning to set in on how daunting this will truly be. I have 30 days to pack, donate, throw out, shred, or sell various belongings. In addition I have to rehome a pet, make rsvps, continue my research, say goodbyes to various people/entities, and work a full time job on top of it all. Throughout my shift last night (I work nights) I had a dull headache. You'd think that by this time I'd know what I'm doing, this is my 4th relocation and umpteenth move, but it never seems to get easier, any suggestions that helped you? Schedules? Listmaking? Singing Kumbaya?

Try some Rescue Remedy (Bach Flower remedies). It might help you calm down. Also, plenty of B-complex vitamins and C--both help with stress.

Thanks, LOL.

And good nutrition/rest is important to remember too.

I also recalled advice given to me a number of years ago. A woman told me to make sure I "laugh". Something will always go wrong in a move, keep your sense of humor. She recounted the story of the truck breaking down while still one state away, most people would have been angry or upset, but she laughed. What else can you do?

Yes, it is mind numbing and overwhelming especially if you have no one to help you..... we recently moved out of state and I had never undertaken such a huge task on by myself (hubby was already at the new job in the new state). I gave myself one day to brood and **** and moan, then I started making lists of things I absolutely had to do (donating stuff, throwing stuff out, etc) and got my packing materials organized (boxes, tape, markers, etc.) and then started in the area I least wanted to do - in my case the basement followed by hubbys man cave. I got them knocked out and then felt a renewed energy when I started to see the fruits of my labor evolve. Although, I wasn't working outside the home, it was still a monumental job. Any chance you can quit the job (you'll have to anyway)? As for seeing people, your close friends and family are surely aware of your situation and don't feel bad if you don't have the time/energy to spend time with them. Maybe plan an evening and invite everyone to a local restaurant or pub and make an evening of saying bye and wrapping all that up - it will give you the energy you need to see your way through a really big change in your life. Don't wear yourself out and fret over stuff - you know something is gonna go wrong at some point (that's called life!!) so just relax, take a breath now and then, and get something constructive done every single day until you move. Make sure to make a list of services to change or disconnect and keep a notebook noting who/when/and anything you need to help you keep organized. You will get through this, I promise!!!! Good luck.....
