Does anyone know what the weight limit is on a PODS type container? Any brand/mover information will be good.

We're not moving for a couple years yet, but this will give me a good guideline on what we want to keep and what to get rid of.

Can you go to their website and look? We used a POD a couple of years ago and it was packed to the hilt and then some It was great. They were good to work with, timely, and everything got to us just fine. I would think their website would tell you what the weight limits are for the different sizes.

FYI, the PODs website does not give a weight limit. Upack's ReloCube says 2500#. U-Haul Ubox says 2000#. One would think the smaller POD would be about the same. Larger POD might be more.

If you plan on shipping gold bricks, the weight limit of their lifting equipment (forklifts, etc) might be an issue.

I wish I could ship some gold bricks! Although, if I had them, I certainly wouldn't be doing my packing and moving myself.

We have a couple pieces of furniture that we are for sure keeping, but too heavy to move it all with our truck. The largest piece is a piano that's been in the family for over 100 years. There's only a couple of other things with sentimental value. Other than those, we will probably get rid of all of our other furniture.

Thanks so much for the information! I'm usually pretty good at finding answers on my own, but this one was eluding me.

Is there any preference in company to use? Is one more reliable than the others?

Is the piano an upright, spinet, or baby grand ?? Grand could be a problem in the ReloCube, Ubox, or smaller POD. You'll need to do good measuring vs inside dimensions of box.

I've personally use Upack Relocube. Everything went as expected. Be sure you have space, and are allowed by city , landlord, etc, to park a unit at each end of move.

It's an upright, so not that bad. I'll definitely look into any restrictions in our using a container.
