Basically the title, I've got a move planned to another state this year, but it's for work, and I don't want to live there permenently. Has anyone ever done that? moved some where for work/family/other reasons but wanted to live in another City/State?
YES, lol! It's funny because I was thinking of this very thing. I really wanted to move to the UP of Michigan but due to economic reasons, I moved to western Virginia. I love the mountains here and am very close to both the Blue Ridge Pkwy & the Appalachian trail. However, it's not the wilds of the Northland. There are very few places in the lower 48 as wild as the UP, I fell in love with the pristine wilderness and the people too. I only hope I can either fall in love with Virginia or one day make it up to the UP.
My wife and I want to be back in Denver shortly after we moved to the pac NW in 2007. It's now 2014, we have lived in 2 other cities in FL and now back in the PAC NW.
We want to go home, we really do. There just isn't an option for me employment wise right now to go back home.
Yes, did it many times in the military. My biggest heartbreak was leaving Portland, Oregon and being reassigned to the DC area. I cried driving out of there and was depressed the whole road trip across the US. In fact, got assigned to DC place multiple times and never liked it.
