During the past 6 years, I have moved three times (1x to another state, 2x to another city in the same state). I can't seem to be happy in a place. Maybe I'm just a nomad! My wife and I have no children, so it's easy to pick up and move. I actually don't like moving, but I do enjoy living in a new place.

Anyone else move a lot?

Yes. I have moved more then you. I think one has to realize for some there is no perfect place and it is finding the best in the situation you are in. Also if you are running from problems often those problems follow you. Possibly look at the past moves and what you do and don't like about the place. Any place you move to once you are there for awhile will not have the same excitement. Do you take vacations? Even traveling in the state ay help to keep things fresh.

In all fairness, one move was because of graduate school. However, I didn't like the place I was living at the time, but I guess I was moving anyways. I like where I am living now, but it's not a place I could see myself living permanently as it's a college town.

I'm actually moving again in a few weeks because of a job and more school. I will probably only stay there for two years, then move to some place more permanent. I like the job and the people I will be working with, but the town is a little run down feeling.

Some people just have itchy feet, I think. The lucky ones get some sort of job that enables them to move around a lot. Perhaps that can happen for you and your wife.

I've made a lot of moves, but I was following the job. I greatly dislike moving! It's just a necessary evil for me sometimes.

I moved out of my parents' house after college when I was 22. I just turned 36 a few months ago, and have moved a total of 14 times, plus stayed temporarily with friends 3 times. I've lived in this house for 4 years and 9 months, and I'm getting ready to rent it out and move to a temporary apartment for a few months while waiting on a job transfer out of state, so will then be moving again when the time comes.

I'm 1000% sure that it won't be my last move, either!

With buying this house, I realized that I'm not cut out to stay in the same place for longer than 2 years. I start getting envious of people who don't have to look at the same counters and cabinets and layouts for years on end. I don't ever want to own another home. I love buying different pieces and rearranging furniture and getting a fresh look. I love exploring new neighborhoods and getting out of ruts. If you don't like the grocery store by your house, don't worry, next year you'll get to find another!

In the last 2 years, I have moved 3 times now. All three times to a new state. I'm a single yuppie, so it's easy. I do enjoy living in a new area, but I don't try to think a place ever making me sad or happy. If I lived in a super small city/town that would probably make me sad and unhappy. Moving for work is a good enough reason as any. I moved to work for different companies in the same industry and quickly realized that the industry is just too bland for me, my recent move brought me to a brand new industry for my background.

What kind of work do you do? I'm envious of you being able to pick up and move that often hubby and I aren't able to transfer jobs that easily.

wow glad to know you, i get accused of that too. And I really cannot come up with a reason, i just know that if i am not happy in a place, either from boredom, or just want something new, or the apartment was a mistake, or the place started having major issues not known when i took the apartment or whatever. Others really think its kinda coo coo, but hey, i'm not a home owner, i am only obligated to stay one year on the lease, and so time for a fresh start. I dont think you have to justify it to anyone. a lot of people dont want to move, they have either too much stuff, or whatever. so enjoy. its probably what you do for fun and excitement and to see new things and get a fresh start.

It's not really the type of work I was doing (the environmental industry), but moreso my life style. I don't like to call myself a minimalist, but to the average person I definitely am. I can literally fit everything I have into my vehicle (which is small). I just get rid of the bed and the chair and that's it for furniture. I never planned moving around this often, but I had some rather odd things occur to me at those jobs. The first one I was laid off, the second one I was a victim of workplace violence, the last one I was at for 2 weeks (they hired me on false pretenses and the boss was an Ahole). All I would like to do now is find something I enjoy and stay put.

I've moved a lot too. Some times to be in a different area but most times for a different work opportunity (changing companies)

-moved from Cape Coral, Florida to Lexington, Mo
-moved to Independence, Mo
-moved to Kansas City, Mo
-moved back to Cape Coral
-moved to Huntsville, Al
-moved back to Kansas City, Mo
-moved back to Huntsville, Al
-moved to Columbus, Oh

In all if this, I almost moved to Chicago for a job

I'm not done moving. I think I'd like to make my forever home in California
