Hi all,

I'm about to move from MA to TX for a year. I've figured out that I need to register my car in TX and get a TX license within 90 days...but I have no idea if I'm required to switch my residency?

Can I keep my MA residency if I so choose or do I need to switch to TX residency within some time period? Thank you.

-John

The answer is yes.

I do not think any state allows you to have "dual residency" unless, you are military and going on assignment.

Typically when you get a D/L in another state you are claiming residency there.

Are you moving there for work or school? If you wish to keep your MA residency I would check with
the DVM and maybe you may still have your car registered with MA. Also will you still have a
home in MA etc. Many snowbirds switch states etc for the climate etc and keep the one state as
home.
