St Augustine used to be in all the history books, learned all about it along with stuff about the Aztecs and about Spain settling the New World, etc.
Don't they still teach that in grade schools? I grew up in the midwest and we had it in schools there.
Of course it still is. I was in 4th grade in 2001-2002 and we learned about it and went on a field trip to St Augustine, my younger sibling was in 4th grade in 2007-2008 and they did the same thing.
And we also learned about it in high school and I just graduated this year.

Gosh they still do that? ha we went in 2000. I liked it.
I remember the 4th grade St. Augustine trip I went in 2001. I still like visiting there- so much history, and the architecture is awesome and unlike any other place I've seen in the country.
Yes I am familiar with St Augustine and its historical past. It is one of my favorite places to visit in Florida. A smaller quieter place with shops and restaurants where one can actually walk around and enjoy the area. Visit these shops and restauants and walk out along the water. Take a tour and hear about all the historical happenings to this small city just south of Jacksonville.
St Augustine is a pleasant place to visit and even with the crowds there, it doesn't feel so overwhelmed by them as further south in the state.
