I voted New York.
Not L.A?

I can't believe people would live in Chicago.

Not sure, never been there! I wasn't crazy about Orange County though.

Chicago is actually pretty nice, have you been?

The OC isn't true LA. Much more laid back (except same traffic), but it is overrun with illegal Mexicans whom are now the majority. There is one city that is 75% Hispanic which used to be all white in the 1900s. Don't judge by the surrounding counties.

I have been to Chicago and it was nice, but who would want to go through those winters when you could live in LA or Seattle or SD or NYC

The difference between chicago and nyc winters is neglible, my grandfather was born and raised in nyc and lived in chicago for 30 years and I never heard him talk much about the difference in weather, nor have I heard much kvetching about the difference in weather from the myriad of other ny transplants I know (and I know a few, and usually they just moan about pizza and bagels, now of course everyone complains about winter in February whether you are from Alaska or Florida). You'll notice that I put nyc as my choice, so this is not just some sort of weirdo hometown defense, just a statement of how it is with those two cities. Now Seattle, SD, and LA winters, yes, indeed, those are much more desirable. But nobody moves to places like nyc (which is more miserably hot and sticky in the summer than chicago, especially in the subways .. this I know from personal experience), boston, or chicago for the weather, that is for damn sure. Personally, the only two cities outside of the one I'm currently live in that I've thought about moving to to the point of researching rent and jobs have been boston and nyc, so obviously, weather doesn't really play much into my decisions on location, I'm more interested in not having to drive everywhere or own a car (I currently don't and want to keep it that way).

I could understand the comparison between winters in Chicago versus LA, but it's not as if though NYC is really much warmer.

Anyway, if cost were no object, I'd do the best of both worlds: Chicago except from January to March, when I'll spend my time in Maui.

Nashville or at least someplace in Tennessee. North Carolina comes in second.

LA? Earthquake timebomb, no core, nice weather though.
Seattle? Too cloudy, nice temps though.
SD? No core, perfect weather.
NYC? Awesome core, weather close to Chicago's.

Id choose here or Boston. LA is a consideration, but Id probably get bored after awhile.
