Also, another things I've found in NY are some schools with decent to high Black student populations with above average to high graduation rates or are higher than the rate for White students. This is for schools with at least high 70's and up in percentage(around 70% in 4 years is the national average). Schools that come to mind are: Malverne, Baldwin, Buffalo City HS's like City Honors, DiVinci, McKinley Vocational, Arts High and Hutchinson Tech, Rome Free Academy, Rochester's School of the Arts, Rush-Henrietta, Liverpool and Troy High, among some others.
Or, you could use this: Moderator cut: link removed, linking to competitor sites is not allowed, which gives a less biased overall view of the quality of education. In other words, it isn't self-selecting for those who take SAT tests (which is a very narrow indicator, in any case). And, this pretty much conforms to what most of us already know and have known for years. Though, I must say, I was kind of surprised by Arizona's showing - I guess that's what gives the state it's special teabaggin' quality.

I stick by my claim that the Southeast has the WORST schools in the country (public especially), based largely on the SAT.
And their lies the problem. Every one does not take SAT's. So there is no info that backs up what you just said. Be more specific, there is no data that accurately backs up what you said.
24 States have more kids taking the ACT than SAT
26 Have more kids taking the SAT
Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Kentucky all are part of those 24.
and idk the exact percentages for how many are taking each, but i can honestly say that I never saw an SAT packet in high school, just ACT, i dont know a single kid who took an SAT outside of 3rd grade( thats the last time i remember taking one)
Update:
Alabama is ranked #19 in total SAT scores
Arkansas is #14
Kentucky is #11
Louisiana is # 18
Tennessee is #16
Connecticut is #30th
Maine is 50th
Maryland is 37th
New Hampshire is 27th
New Jersey 36th
new York 46th
Rhode Island 38th
Pennsylvania 42nd
So now Im am sure your thought where based on stereotypes, because of the kids in the Southern States that take SAT's in the "ACT states" they score very well; and even better than all the northern states. yes Its a smaller number of participants which was my point in the beginning.
i cant find any stats on the ACT
I just wish the southern stereotype of bad schools would go away.
We have bad graduation rates, not bad schools/test scores.

For all who don't read:
I posted the SAT and the ACT scores for all 50 states for 2010. This is a STANDARDIZED test that is taken by highschoolers who expect to graduate and go off to college. It is an excellent way to measure education without parity.

I posted both....please click on both links. In any scenario, the South tends to fare poorly compared to the national average. Again, these are just statistics for standardized tests.....this is not a subjective opinion, so maybe it doesn't count in this discussion?
Why in the world did you take the SAT in 3rd grade? How would you have a snowball's chance in hell of understanding most of it? Do you mean something else???
