I call Coca cola 'Coke', pepsi - pepsi, sprite - sprite etc etc. I get a bit annoyed when I ask for coke and get served pepsi....

if I use a generic term its 'soft drink'

It's all coke, just that sometimes the coke comes in pepsi, sprite, or some other flavor. Of course if you mean Co-cola just say so.
