Current rides: 1989 Taurus SHO
1995 Saab 900 turbo
Just curious about the places that have gas at over $3.00 a gall. How much was your gas six months ago when it was at it's highest? I can't believe that California is actually lower than some states now.

Very nice choices. How many miles on the SHO? I had a buddy with a SHO that had 205K miles and still ran like a champ. Does the SHO require 93 and up or is that a personal preferance? I know the turbo should run high octane, but how does the V6 SHO run on lesser gas? When I run under 93 I get pings/knocks.

Gas here topped out at $3.70 a gallon for regular.

I've run it on 91 before without any issues (91 was the highest I could find in Missouri). But premium is not a preference, it's a requirement. One of the ways they got 220HP out of 3L engine is a 10:1 compression ratio. Trying to run regular-grade gas with that kind of compression is not advised.
Mine has 156K on the odo, looks like absolute hell both inside and out but it still runs like it was broken in yesterday. As long as you follow the maintenance intervals, that engine is bullet-proof.
Now that summer is coming to an end, so does the high price of gas we were all paying before summer. California was leading gas prices at the highest peak at about $3.75 for regular unleaded. Now where I live, the lowest is $2.65. How much is gas where you live? Wish there was something that could be done to the owners of stations that take advantage of people coming off and on freeways charging almost a dollar more for the convenience of using their stations.
Actually in all the cases of gas stations in this area, station owners actually lose money on selling gas, instead making money off of stuff from inside the store. Only when there is a crisis such as hurricane do they sometimes take advantage of people by speculatively pricing their gas. If anything should be done it should be to oil companies.

Dang, I didnt think the compression ratio was that high. That makes sense that a higher octane gas is a must. What was the V8 SHO's compression ratio? Sorry to get off topic here...

V8 was also 10:1
