Top 10 colleges academically and in reputation in your state? (schools, university)

So what in your perception are the 10 best academic schools but also by reputation. When I am talking about reputation, I am talking about how well known their brand is as well. For instance Standford is amazing academically and in reputation it's known across the nation. However, a school like Case Western is amazing academically but doesn't have a big reputation. Get what I mean?
Also this is based on your opinion, so don't start whipping out U.S. News Rankings and what not:

You'd seriously put UNC over Duke? Also, Wake Forest would not be 5th. It would be 2nd or 3rd. I'd dump Winston Salem State from the list and put in Davidson. I'm also not sure about Campbell.

It's just his/her opinion. I disagree as well. I would out Duke at 1 and UNC at 2. I would put Wake Forest at #3, but besides Duke and UNC in all honesty I don't know too much about NC schools. However this is opinion based.

Like OP said there are many others that offer an excellent education, but just not too well-known nationally, like SUNY Binghamton, Cooper Union, Hamilton, Ithaca, St. Lawrence, Hunter College, Queens College, Brooklyn College, and U. of Rochester, to name a few.

A wild guess and not in order: Cornell, Columbia, Cooper Union, NYU, SUNY-Binghamton, SUNY-Geneseo, Colgate, Syracuse, University of Rochester and University of Buffalo, among others.
