1. U of Wisconsin-Madison
2. Lawrence University
3. Marquette University
4. U of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
5. Beloit College
.
U of Wisconsin-Madison is the best public (and arguably one of the best private) school in the region. The Average ACT is 28 which means students are in the top 10% yet they accept 67% of their applicants. I find that amazing. There must be some top notch students pulling up the averages. Cheese and beer must help those ACT scores.
I had looked at all of the schools in Pennsylvania very closely for my children and this list is a few years old and a few schools in the Philly area such as Swarthmore and Temple were not included. This list took into consideration as many academic ratings as I could find, many of which are conflicting.
1. University of Pennsylvania
2. Villanova University
3. Bucknell University
4. Penn State University (University Park)
5. St. Joseph's University

Michael Scott of Dunder Mifflin attended University of Scranton. Of course, his replacement Andy Bernard got his degree at Cornell. It goes to show you that where you go to school matters!

I realized a few obvious schools were not on this list, so I added them where I thought they would fit.

Your list seems a bit schizophrenic. St. Joes and U Scranton in particular seem a bit too highly ranked, and Pitt not quite high enough, although until around 10 years ago, Pitt was more on Temple's level academically, and reputations do die hard...
