Apologies to anyone who finds the term "Christmas" to be dated or offensive... but specifically, I am interested in good Christmas cities!
By that, I mean cities where Christmas still seems special -- stores still do elaborate store fronts, Christmas lights are prevalent, and there's still that feeling of Christmas I remember from 25-30 years ago.
Off hand, Chicago and New York seem to fit the bill... am I right on that?
Also, a bonus is if a city also celebrates Hanukkah and similar holidays, without lumping them all together in the generic and uninspiring term "Holidays."
I have not beeen to Chicago...But, I have been to NYC...Rockefeller Center area around Christmas is a fantastic experience...It gets crowded at times...Really crowded...But, everyone is in the right spirit...

Guthrie, Oklahoma is just north of the OKC metro area. it has one of the largest historic distrits in the nation. they go all out for x-mas.
someone just had a post like this. My reply was frankenmuth, mi. Frankenmuth is home to the world's largest Christmas store, Bronner's. No town celebrates Christmas like Frankenmuth.
Milwaukee is quite festive during the Xmas holiday season, and it's even better when there's snow. During the season, downtown become dressed up in holiday lights and decorations, and there's also a giant tree ("holiday tree") on display. Red Arrow Park, just north of downtown, opens up to ice skaters, and various stores have holiday-themed displays.
Montreal? This is the General US forum... But I have to agree that it is nice, also the big hill behind the skyline makes it 10 times better.
I'm not sure asbout San Francisco around Christmas. I have an Aunt from there and currently living out there and I hear it's rainy, cool, and damp... Kind of miserable. She also said they decorate, but nothing like NYC, Chicago, or Boston.
How about Williamsburg, Virginia? That may be taking Christmas back a little more than 20-30 years though!
