I like having Metric units included everywhere just like we have it on products and packages.

I've never seen signs like that ever.

You could see them in some parts near the Canadian and Mexican border.
I wish they were everywhere

That explains why I've never seen them lol. I've never seen them in Europe though, when I visited.

After we get on the metric time system, the next obvious thing to convert to metric is the alphabet. Some serious work has already been done in that direction. Google Decabet

Just because a situation is bad doesnt mean you shouldnt try to change it. If someone couldnt read you could say, "well they are screwed," or you could teach them how to read. In this case I am advocating a pro-knowledge based system of education that could help people climb out of an abyss of ignorance and fly the skies of freedom.

I realize this is scary to some people. Like Plato's allegory of the cave they have never seen the light and only know the darkness of the cave. It is new and therefore frightening, but believe me it is better to bask in the sun than be chained in the cave.

Okay, buddy, I nominate you to finance the change, educate us all, or get the he!! out of my cave.

I am neither fearful, frightened, or in chains. I do not dwell in an abyss. I simply obey the rules, laws, and conventions of the country in which I live. I learned the metric system when I was in school. If put to the test, I could adapt to the change. I'm always willing to go the extra mile.

Until that time, I will continue to debate and discuss without resorting to insulting, name-calling, and insinuating that I am the smartest person in the room. This particular discussion, however, is no longer of interest to me. I'm busy learning how to speak German so I can converse with Deutch Boy when he comes to save us from our unlearned selves.

Hey everyone...please allow this American to put his ignorance on display!!

Here's the thing. I actually agree that the metric system is superior, that is plainly obvious.

BUT.

The glaring exception to this, in my ignorant opinion, is celsius vs. fahrenheit.

Celcius just isn't as exact. Well, I guess technically when you convert it to fahrenheit it's more exact (down to the decimal), but that isn't very useful for the average person just trying to see how hot or cold it is outside.

Unless I'm remembering it incorrectly, doesn't 1 degree celcius have a range of, like, 2 degrees fahrenheit or so? How in the name of all that's holy is celcius more exact, or easier?

It is better and 2 minutes of research would show you why. Saying it is not better does not mean it is not better.

It is a superior system, and there is no dispute about that. Anyone who understands both systems, which is most of the world minus America and Liberia, know this.
the world should convert their thermometers to Kelvin and distance to a combination of Cubits, Fathoms and Knots. Time should be converted to the One-One-Thousand, Two-One-Thousand System. Our census needs to be conducted in the One Potato, Two Potato, Three Potato System. Weight should be converted to stones and parnsnips. Money should be all converted to sticks and bones.

These systems are better cuz I said so, anyone not agreeing with me is ignorant.

Nope you're wrong. In celsius 0 is freezing and 100 is boiling so its automatically better, because things with 10 are automatically better.

Fahrenheit has its silly 100 degrees places between the freezing temperature of a random brine mixture and human body temperature. Of course somehow this ends up being a range that contains the only temperatures you'd likely ever see in day to day life in Germany or the USA (basically anywhere outside the desert or the arctic), but what does that matter?

Another interesting fact: the guy who invented Fahrenheit was German. Oh wait....
